Our Ambassadors

Hannah's Chance Foundation has three Ambassadors who are passionate about fighting sarcoma and spreading its awareness. They are connected to the Foundation and sarcoma in various ways, find out more about them below.
Tracey Wickam MBE OAM

Tracey Wickham, Australian-swimming great and Hannah’s mother, was officially appointed the first Ambassador of Hannah’s Chance Foundation.
The role enables Tracey to utilise her public profile to raise money for the Foundation’s sarcoma awareness, research and support.
“It is a role that Hannah and I dreamed about doing together but her absence makes my role all the more important because I will be doing it on behalf of both of us,” Tracey said.
“This is why I was born to swim fast. This is why I was put on this earth. To help make sure that the world doesn’t lose its greatest asset, its young people. People like Hannah who would have had so much to contribute if they’d just had the chance.”
Laurie Lawrence

Laurie almost needs no introduction - he is a former Australian Rugby Union representative and Olympic and World Champion swimming coach. He is a close friend of the Wickham and Ciobo families and was a big part of Hannah’s life.
Laurie witnessed the battle Hannah and her family went through and is determined to help the Foundation find a cure for sarcoma and end the suffering for so many.
“I want to help fight this disease that brought so much sadness to Hannah and her family. I know that Hannah’s beautiful spirit is being carried on through the Foundation and I look forward to representing its work to the best of my ability,” Laurie said.
Hannah’s Chance Foundation Founder and Board Member, Mr Tom O’Driscoll said he was extremely pleased to have Laurie on board with the Foundation.
“Laurie is a great representative for the Foundation as he embodies its positivity and fighting spirit. Hannah would be so proud to know he is continuing her fight,” he said.
Richie Lovett
Richie is one of the world’s most respected surfers whose career spreads over 20 years.
Richie has a strong connection to the Foundation because of his personal battle with sarcoma, of which he is now in remission. In 2006 he was diagnosed with a malignant Chondrosarcoma in his hip and after four years of recovery and being told he would never surf again, he is back on the board and competing again.
Having overcome his battle with sarcoma, Richie brings positivity and enthusiasm to the Foundation. He and his wife have recently had their first baby which makes him even more determined to find a cure for future sarcoma sufferers.
“I was completely shocked when I was diagnosed, I never thought it would happen to me, I was a professional athlete and always looked after my body,” Richie said.
“Since battling and overcoming sarcoma I have a new outlook on life and want to do more to help future sufferers who will face the same fight that I did.
The Foundation represents the perfect opportunity to use my profile and networks to help make a real impact in the fight against sarcoma. I am very proud to be a Hannah’s Chance Ambassador.”
